Dark spots on face

Many times dark spots on face are a sign of skin damage. Applying remedies that allow the skin to regenerate will help these marks fade more quickly. These spots are generally caused by hyperpigmentation or an excess of melanin. In some cases you can remove dark spots by home remedies but if the dark skin is persistent you should contact a doctor.

Causes of Dark Spots on Face

Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin caused by increased melanin.

Hormonal Imbalances can trigger this over-pigmentation of the cells, such as Melasma (or chloasma, also known as pregnancy mask).

Excessive Sun Exposure to the sun can also cause the skin to start producing excess melanin to protect itself from the UV rays.

Skin Disorders: people are also more prone to developing dark spots on the skin as they age, as skin reproduces more slowly and eliminates damaged areas with more difficulty.

Liver Damage: in this case the body is less effective in removing toxins from the cells and spots on the skin are a sign of this damage.

Acne Scars can frequently leave dark spots on the skin that will take some time to fade.
